The majority of the text on this blog is written by Hikaru, a ball jointed doll. Try not to question it. The text written in pink font is commentary from Hikaru's human friend, Anna. Basically Hikaru does most of the writing and Anna keeps her from getting too out of hand.

Bjd Unboxing: Doll Family H Body and Shoes?

This post may contain affiliate links, please check out my disclosures page for more info.  Thanks!

After waiting a practically endless amount of time, our package has arrived!

Unboxing the Doll Family H 45 cm. boy bjd body, plus cute doll shoes.

Inside is the long awaited body for Usagi’s friend, the head.

That’s right, he will no longer be a floating head.  You can see his excitement (at least Anna says you can).

Now to open the package.

Unboxing the Doll Family H 45 cm. boy bjd body.

Inside is a beautiful doll box with the company name.  Anna chose the 45 cm. boy body from Doll Family H and ordered from Alice’s Collections, a truly wonderful website for doll items.

Opening the box.

As you can see from the extra packages in the box, Anna ordered more than the body this time.

But let us get back to the task at hand.  The body was securely pack with foam to protect it on its long journey.

It's his new bjd body.

Look at him, totally in awe.  Time to attach him to his new body.

A Doll Family A head on a Doll Family H body.

It fits!  And it suits him well, though the resin color seems slightly off.  Still, it is close enough to serve our needs.

There is just one problem…

He's got a new body, but he is still naked!

Eek!  He is naked!  Where are some clothes?

Dressing the new doll.

Here, put these on quickly.  Make haste!

A bjd with his new body.

Thankfully, Anna whipped up a pair of white shorts for our now decent friend.

Poster tack for doll eyes.

And using the eye putty Anna purchased along with the body, she can put in his eyes.  They were purchased ages ago (see Doll Love Unboxing Part 2: Reviewing a Wig and Eyes).

Added his eyes.

Now he can see where he is going, among other things.

And because he is now considered a “new doll” and is in need of more clothing, I will present the “new doll” dress.

Putting a dress on a male doll. He needs to wear something.

Please put it on.

“…….must I?”

Yes, it is mandatory.

“…but I’m a guy.”

Just put it on!

……

“It looks cute on you. :)

……

New male doll with a new wig and a dress?

And with his wig, also purchased ages ago (see Of Bjd Hair: Reviewing Three Wigs?), he looks complete.

He looks upset.  He thinks the dress and wig makes him look like a girl.

He is feeling emotional right now.

And the poor guy doesn’t fit in Usagi’s lap anymore.

“There, there.  It’s okay. :)

Maybe this will cheer him up.  Anna purchased several other items in addition to the body.  Mostly msd and yosd sized shoes.  Footwear for all!

As a gift, they added in more eye putty and a cleaning sponge.  We shall be needing these.Bjd haul for Alice's Collections.

Anna bought this set of eyelashes.  I do hope it means she will finally give me a face up.  I’ve been patiently waiting for almost 2 years, and still nothing.

For our friend, Anna bought these fine black shoes.

They fit him fine, though a little loosely.  He will definitely be needing socks.  The laces are quite long on them as well.  Perhaps Anna could trim them down.

For Yuna and Sakura, there are these adorable Mary Jane style shoes.  White with tiny flowers for Yuna, and pink with bows for Sakura.

Both pairs fit nicely, especially Yuna’s shoes.  The buckles for the straps are quite effective.  The “buttons” on Sakura’s shoes are a little trickier to operate.

Usagi got these bright pink shoes with removable ankle straps.

Usagi loves them, I find the tiny heart cutouts and scallop edges to be especially endearing.  Pity about the fit.  They are quite snug on her, but not so much to be unwearable.

And here is mine, isn’t it just gorgeous?  Ruffled lace, bows and jewels, elegantly blended in one perfect slipper.

Sadly, the jewels on one of the shoes came loose during shipping.  I shall have to have Anna reattach them at once.  She says she has a glue that will work wonders on it (It’s Aleene’s Jewel-It!! ).

Despite the jewel issue, these are wonderful shoes that fit my feet perfectly.  I shall get much use out of them.

Anna also purchase another pair of shoes, these rather pretty yosd sized shoes with removable ankle straps.  I do like them, I wouldn’t mind having a pair in my size.  But who are they for exactly?

Anyway,  Alice’s Collections was having a special event.  Those who made a qualifying purchase could receive a special doll.

This beautiful deer (Doll Family A Luca).

Anna neglected to mentioned it until just before the package arrived.

But now, here it is, a lovely new “pet” for us?

But first let’s put in its eyes, like most of us dolls, there is a free pair of eyes for the deer.

There, doesn’t it look sweet.  The children think so too.

Such a cute little deer bjd.

“Hello, what a cute little thing!  Is it hungry?  What does it eat? Do we eat it? Can we play with it?”

“….It’s cute….”

“I know!”

Welcome home, our new dolls.

Anna decided it’s best to let our friend take care of the deer.  It seems to like him and it cheers him up.

The ball jointed doll family is growing!

Our ball jointed doll family has grown greatly over the last two years.  And with the addition of a male doll and a pet, things should get particularly interesting around here.

For now we are at peace.

Of Bjd Fashion: Usagi’s New Jeans!? with Tutorial

This post may contain affiliate links, please check out my disclosures page for more info.  Thanks!

Last month was Usagi’s birthday.  It has officially been a year since she and her friend (the head) came into my care (see Welcome Home, Doll Family-A Unboxing).

In honor of this occasion, Anna created a brand new outfit for Usagi.  I can’t say I am completely thrilled about it for one particular reason.

Anna made Usagi a pair of jeans.

“Yay! Just what I wanted! :)”

Oh dear no, why?!

Cute new top and jeans for a ball jointed doll.

Jeans, those horrible things that I wouldn’t be caught dead in are now in this household.

And I know Usagi specifically asked for them (see Bjd Lifestyle: Haute Doll Magazine, The Bjd Issue?), but I still don’t understand it.

Lace on back pockets of a pair of doll jeans.

They have a touch of lace on the back pockets which I approve of, though it’s a pity that this sweet touch is hidden by the top.

The top is a pretty wrap style made with the same floral print material as my skirt.  It is loose fitting, but flattering.

Anna said she was inspired to make it using this doll dress tutorial.  She did have to create her own pattern though.

She has decided to provide the pattern, so that others may benefit from it.

A beaded necklace is the final piece to make this outfit complete.

Anna insists that others may wish to make jeans for their ball jointed dolls too.  Why, I simply can’t comprehend.

However, I am a patient and generous doll, and will allow Anna to share her tutorial.

MSD BJD Jeans Tutorial

Materials needed:

  • Denim (old jeans work)
  • Scissors
  • Needle and thread or sewing machine
  • Pins
  • Snaps or soft Velcro
  • Pencil or pen
  • Pattern
  • A Doll
  • Any lace or decoration you want.
  • Some sewing skills (yours or a friend’s)

Here is your pattern.  As marked on the pattern, you will need to cut 2 of the leg pieces and 2 pockets.  The pockets are completely optional, they are just fun.

For these jeans, it’s best to use a stretchy denim because it will insure a better fit, and it tends to be thinner which works better for dolls.

Also, keep your doll handy while sewing these jeans.  Try them on frequently, especially when sewing the waist and seams.

First, pin your pieces at the “Back” part with the right sides together and then sew it.  I would highly recommend using a sewing machine for this, but you can sew by hand too.

Now at the “Front” part of both pieces fold where it is marked on the pattern and sew along the edge.  This part will be the fly.

Now you will hem the pant legs by simply folding up the bottom and sewing it.  You can double fold it if you wish, but this makes it less bulky.

Your dolly jeans should look like this at this point.  Now for some decorating.

How to make jeans for a msd ball jointed doll.

It is optional, but you can sew two rows of stitches down the center of each leg to give the look of side seams.  This is also a good time to add appliques or other embellishments too.

How to make jeans for a msd ball jointed doll.

For the waistband, all we do is fold it down and sew across just to keep it simple.  Using the pattern as is will give you a fairly high waisted pair of jeans, so cut it as marked if you want a lower waist.

Now for the pockets.  Mark with a pencil or pen on the wrong side of the fabric where you want the pockets.  Then sew along the line.

I just did this for the front pockets, but you can do this for the back pockets too or for any other details you want to add.

But if you want to add the back pockets, here’s how.

How to make jeans for a msd ball jointed doll.

First we take our pockets and cut small pieces from the corners as shown.  This makes the next step easier.

Fold the sides and sew.

The top side is done last.

If you wish, you can add lace or other details to them.

Just need to pin them in place and sew along the edge of the pockets.  Take your time, especially at each corner.

Almost done, you will need to pin together the “Front” parts and sew as marked on the pattern.

Next is to pin the inseam, starting at the bottom hem, up the leg to the crotch.  And then do the same to the other leg, then sew them both up.

Turn it inside out, and you got yourself a near complete pair of jeans.

All that’s left is to sew on a snap or some Velcro to close it.

And now you have a new pair of doll jeans.  You can also make regular pants the same way.

End of Tutorial.

Don’t you think they look cute on Usagi, it’s a shame Hikaru is so biased about them.

Hmm, I suppose they suit Usagi well, and it is just one pair of jeans.  Nothing to get too worked up over.

"Can I have some too?"

“I want some too! Can I please?”

Oh no, not you too Sakura!

What about the head?

“But what about my friend?  It’s his birthday too! :)”

Yes Usagi, but he is a head.  A head can’t receive nice new clothes.  Isn’t that right Anna?

That’s right Hikaru, but that can be easily fixed.

Time for a special announcement.  The head will soon have a body.  I placed an order for it among other things and it will come in any day now.

(…You didn’t mention this to me.)

(Yes I did, you just weren’t paying attention.)

News about the floating head.

Then that means soon this head will be a doll?  A male doll?

…Oh dear…
