Alice’s Collections Shopping Haul: Doll Clothes, Eyes and a Stand?

This post was suppose to go up several months ago, but I never could get around to it until now.  So pretend it is still March when you read it.

Anna placed a smallish order on the fine online bjd store, Alice’s Collections.  There were just a few items we needed for a few particular purposes.

The shipping box from Alice's Collections before opening. Inside is the long awaited order of bjd stuff.

Within two weeks, the package arrived at our door.  Anna thought this was rather quick, however I would have preferred a speedier delivery.

The contents of the box, still all wrapped in plastic and bubble wrap.

Anyway, let us see what is inside the box.

A close up of the magic eraser included in the package as a free gift. Useful for cleaning dolls.

First, there is a cleaning sponge included as a gift from the store.  These have been wonderful to have on hand.  Sakura is prone to making a mess of herself and Usagi isn’t much better.

(You’re pretty messy too, Hikaru.)

A white button down shirt for a msd or 1/4 scale ball jointed doll, bought from Alice's Collections. It's still wrapped in plastic.

Now this is wonderous piece, it’s a simple white button-down shirt (also available in black) for Yuki.

A white button down shirt for a msd or 1/4 scale ball jointed doll, bought from Alice's Collections. Unwrapped and ready to try on the doll

A simple, yet classic piece with crisp collar and nicely make cuffs.  It is fairly well made for the rather low price.

A white button down shirt for a msd or 1/4 scale ball jointed doll, bought from Alice's Collections. It is being held by its new owner, and male ball jointed doll with blond hair (Yuki).

It was purchased specifically for Yuki as a present for his birthday next month.  It looks wonderful and hopefully it will look just as fine on him.

A white button down shirt for a msd bjd, now worn by its new owner. It looks nice on him, fits well.

And it does, much nicer than his t-shirts in my opinion.  The msd size seems to fit him well enough (Check out the dolls’ profile page for Yuki’s measurements, the shirt is available in several other “sizes”).

Pink sneakers for a msd sized ball jointed doll, still in the plastic packaging.

Next is something more casual, this pair of pink sneakers.

They were purchased for Usagi for her birthday as well.  I can’t say I particularly like them, but I’m positive Usagi will adore them.

Pink sneakers for a msd sized ball jointed doll, out of the packaging and ready to try on.

They are fairly well made though.   With decent topstitching, evenly spaced grommets, and sturdy looking lacings they should hold up well.

And as expected, Usagi is quite happy with them, mostly due to their coloring.

A msd sized bjd with strawberry blond hair (Usagi) holding her new pink sneakers.

“They are so cute! :)”

Trying on the cute pink doll sneakers, they are a perfect fit!

They fit quite well, much better than the last pair of shoes purchase for her (see Bjd Unboxing: Doll Family H Body and Shoes?).

Usagi and Yuki sitting and admiring their new shoes and clothes.

Both Usagi and Yuki seem quite content with their gifts.

A msd sized doll petticoat bought from Alice's Collections, still in the plastic packaging.

Now for something wonderful, my new petticoat!

A msd sized doll petticoat bought from Alice's Collections, unwrapped and spread out to show off the poufiness.

Yes, I have simple be dying to have one of my own for so long.  And because my own birthday is coming soon, Anna added it to her order.

(It’s available in black or white and in SD and Msd size.)

Our white haired bjd narrator (Hikaru) looking at her new petticoat.

It looks so much fuller in person than on the website, but will it be effective?  Let us see.

Before the petticoat, Hikaru is wearing a full pink skirt that only flares out a little.

Here is my fine skirt without any petticoat.

After the petticoat, Hikaru's skirt is suddenly much fuller looking and poufier.

And now, here it is with my new petticoat.  The difference is almost alarming.

Close up of the the now poufier skirt.

My skirt looks so beautiful and I simply cannot wait to try this with some of my favorite dresses.

There is, however, a downside to all this new volume.

Hikaru is sitting between Yuki and Usagi who both look amazed at the size of the skirt. They have to sit farther away to make room.

It certainly takes up a bit of space.

Usagi is staring at the poufy pink skirt. She looks surprised.

“Oh my, your skirt is so huge, but it’s cute too! :)”

Yuki is staring at the skirt, he looks confused.

“…what happened?…”

A packaged pair of pink 12 mm glass doll eyes bought from Alice's Collections.

And now an important purchase, a pair of glass doll eyes.

A pair of pink 12 mm glass doll eyes bought from Alice's Collections.

Alice’s Collections was having a special event.  If you purchased certain items you could then purchase a pair of eyes of your choice for only $1, a real bargain of a price.

Not wanting to pass up this deal, Anna purchased a 12mm pair in pink for our small cat doll who was still in need of eyes.

The purple kitty doll without eyes. The pink eyes are for her.

Here is our tiny cat without eyes…

The purple kitty doll with her new pink eyes, now she can see at last.

…And here she is now.  She can finally see!

The kitty doll is sitting in Usagi's lap and staring at Hikaru and her skirt. Hikaru is commenting on the cat.

And she keeps staring at me.  Why is see staring at me?

“She thinks your skirt is huge too. :)”

The parts for a doll stand, waiting to be assembled.

Now the final purchase, a doll stand.

The fully assembled invisible doll stand purchased from Alice's Collections.

Anna has been eyeing this doll stand for awhile.  She has mentioned many times about the little problem we dolls have with standing still for the camera (See this doll bloopers post).

She is hoping this stand will be of some help.  We shall have to test this idea.  However, that will be for another post.

For now, we will all continue to enjoy our new pieces.

Be at peace my dear readers.

Bjd Unboxing: Kids Sky Review Part 2 and an Eye Review

We are continuing on from yesterday’s unboxing of our newest ball jointed doll, a Kids Sky Momo.  Now that it is day time, we can see her beauty in more flattering lighting instead of that horrid camera flash.

Her face up looks so beautiful in natural lighting, as well as those intriguing eyes.

Pity, the “new doll” dress doesn’t look as well in the brilliant day light.  However, Yuna and Sakura have a simple solution to her clothing woes.

“You can borrow this dress!  It’s so pretty, it will look great, right?”

“Um…You can borrow my headband…If you want.”

Now fully dressed, doesn’t she look lovely.  The three look so adorable lined up together.

They do right?  This is one of reasons why I wanted her so much.  I wanted a trio of cute yosd sized dolls to play with and do cute poses for photos.

Comparing the dolls' heights | From a Doll's Eyes

“Are you taller than us?  Did you grow?!  Show me how, I want to be as big as Miss Ghost Lady!”

“…I think it’s her shoes.  They have heels.”

That’s right.  Though she look taller in her new shoes (sold here, in case you're interested), the new doll is actually about as tall as Yuna and quite slim.  I will do a body comparison later.

Anyway, I can see now that these three will be great friends.  I also believe this new doll and I will get along quite handsomely.  She is such a well-mannered young girl, and so mature for her age.

“I beg your pardon, but why does Sakura refer to you as ‘Miss Ghost Lady’?”

…Why indeed…

Review of EHS014 in 14 mm. glass eyes for ball jointed dolls. Sold by Alice's Collections.

Now it’s finally about time to discuss the eyes.  They are EHS014 in 14 mm. glass eyes , and are a pleasant shade of blue.

As mentioned yesterday, they were purchased at a steep discount for Usagi.  Anna has come to the conclusion that Usagi’s original eyes aren’t a perfect fit, literally.

Getting new eyes for a bjd. | From a Doll's Eyes.

That’s right, if you look closely there is some slight gaps along the edge.  Plus I think the pupils are a little small in proportion to the whole eye.

I thought the ones I brought for Yuki were really nice (see New Arrival: A Doll Love Bjd Unboxing and Review), so why not get another pair?

They fit fine and look great on her.  I love how much shinier glass is compared to acrylic eyes.

They weren’t my first choice for color (the first choice sold out), but they turned out better than expected.

Indeed, the color is much better than before, and far more suitable for our dear Usagi.

Adjusted this doll's eyes, now she looks cuter. | From a Doll's Eyes

After inserting Usagi’s new eyes, Anna took the liberty of adjusting Yuna’s eyes.  Their alignment was off from the start and it made the poor child look cross eyed at times.  Now with her eyes properly positioned, she looks so much more endearing.

Unboxing a ball jointed doll. The family is huge.

Our ball jointed doll family has grown quite large over the past two years and has undergone some changes.

I would like to thank all those wonderful readers who have watched over us since our humble beginnings as well as those who have joined us recently.  Your support has meant so much to Anna and myself as well.  And with that support we shall continue to share our stories, our experiences and crafts for many more years to come.

Thanks for reading | From a Doll's Eyes

Of course, that means Anna should get to work.  We are in need of proper attire, and doll clothing doesn’t sew itself.

Be at peace my dear reader.

Bjd Unboxing: Kids Sky Doll Review Part 1

First I must apologize for the lateness of this post.  It should have gone up over a month ago, but it was delayed due to Anna’s laziness (laziness!?).

Anyway, it is finally time to share some glorious news.

We have a new doll!

She is from the bjd company Kids Sky and was ordered through Alice’s Collections.  Anna said she had wanted this doll for ages.  However, when she finally ordered her, she chose not to mention it to anyone at first due to the expected timeframe.  I shall allow her to explain.

Well, normally ball jointed dolls are made to order, as in they don’t make your doll until after you place an order.  And it can take quite some time for them to be made.  Depending on the company and sculpt, it can take anywhere from 3-4 months to a year before your doll is ready to ship to you.

So I was expecting to have to wait about 4 months for this doll to ship and then make an official announcement.  So imagine my surprise when after barely over a month I receive word that my new doll had shipped.  Super fast.  And even more surprising was how fast this doll showed up at my house afterwards.  So much for making an announcement.

So I grabbed the camera, woke up the dolls and opened up the box.  And then nothing.  I found myself too busy with other things to finish this and just kept putting off posting this.  Day after day and then week after week.

But enough of that, let’s start the post the way it was intended.

Indeed, let us begin.

The Kids Sky Bjd Unboxing

Here we all are, anxious and ready to meet our new doll.

Yuna is quite eager to meet her new companion, though not quite as much as Sakura.

Inside the shipping box is the doll box bearing the logo for Kids-Sky.  The journey must have been treacherous, just look at the damage to the box.

Thanks to the ample padding provided by the cushion, our new doll is perfectly safe.

The fine people at Alice’s Collections have included a cleaning sponge as a gift.

Unboxing a new ball jointed doll! Plus new eyes!

There was a special offer on doll eyes with the purchase of a doll.  Anna took advantage of the deal for Usagi’s sake.  We will discuss this at a later time

Here is the doll card.  Our new doll is the Kids Sky Momo, a yosd or 1/6 scale doll which is why Sakura and Yuna are so excited to meet her.  She will be their new playmate.

Kids Sky included a little instruction booklet for bjd maintenance, how very thoughtful of them.  I shall expect Anna to study it well, she needs to reveiw some of the basics.

Here is our newest little doll, packed in foam and wrapping for her protection.  I am relieved to find that she comes with appropriate undergarments.

She came with the default company faceup (see Doll Owner's Corner: Face Up), it was done free of charge as part of the sale.  How fortunate for her (when will I get one?!).

The painting is nicely done, though I’m afraid her eyelashes may have suffered in the journey home.

She came with free eyes in such a peculiar color.  Anna says they are blue, but they look near-purple in this photo and brown in others.

Anyway, she seems to be a sweet and well-mannered doll.  The children are quite taken with her.

“I’m Sakura!  What’s your name? Do you have a name yet?  Do you like my name? Wanna be friends? Nice to meet you!”

“Nice to meet you too.”

“And that’s Yuna!”

“….You’re pretty….Nice to meet you…”

“It is a pleasure to meet you Yuna.”

“This is Shiro.”

“Oh what a sweet little deer.”

Now that we are well acquainted, it is time to present the new doll dress.

“…Must I?”

Yes, I insist on it.

As with Yuna and Sakura, the new doll dress fits quite loosely on our new doll, but it is a tradition that must continue.

Because Anna had indeed wanted this doll for a long time, she had planned ahead for some necessary items.  Such as this wig purchased along with Sakura’s and Yuki’s (see Of Bjd Hair: Reviewing Three Wigs?), and these shoes purchased along with the others (see Bjd Unboxing: Doll Family H Body and Shoes?).

I have always adored this doll wig, and am glad to see it finally in use.  It looks so charming on this new doll.

And the shoes fit her well.  They are sold by Alice’s Collections, and I highly recommend them for a slightly more mature look for yosd bjds.

Our new doll is dressed and ready…for some much needed rest.

We shall continue on tomorrow.  Until then, be at peace my dear readers.
