Discussing Names and Teacups
Some time has past since the arrival of the body for our “floating head” and he has been adjusting pleasantly.
It does help that he has a sweet little deer as a companion. The two have been inseparable. So much so, that it inspired their names. Anna will explain all.
Our boy doll’s name is Yuki. It means snow, or depending on the characters, lucky. It pops up as a name or nickname in several different anime/manga series including Cardcaptor Sakura, Vampire Knight and Fruits Basket. That last one in particular with the character Yuki Sohma, an extremely popular yet surprisingly shy high school boy.
The deer is named Shiro. It means white or castle, but it is used as a name for pets among other things. Kind of like naming a black cat Blackie. It was the name of a dog in an episode of the Asian drama series Deka Wanko.
If you combine the names, you get Shiroyuki, white snow. This is actually the main character from the anime Snow White with the Red Hair. These two may not resemble that character, but combining their names like that was too cute to resist.
Yes, my friends, the anime names continue. Sigh.
Anyway, Anna managed to produce a new simple outfit for Yuki in record timing. How on Earth did she manage that?
In a word, rejects. The pieces he is wearing were rejects from previous sewing projects.
The jeans were the first attempt at making jeans for Usagi. They came out too baggy, so I had to adjust the pattern and try again. For this guy, the bagginess was just fine. All I had to do was remove the lacey pockets and finish up the pants.
The tank top was going to be an undershirt for one of the girls, and again it was too baggy. I just removed the lace and it was perfect. Now he has a basic jeans and tank outfit.
I guess this outfit will have to do for now, and he seems to like it just fine. So does Usagi.
“Look! We match. :)”
Now in honor of our newest doll family members, I thought it would be wonderful to a tea party. It’s been ages since we all sat down for a nice cup of tea.
“Can we have cake too?”
Only if you behave yourselves.
“…Can I have milk please?..”
“I want juice!”
Sigh.
“…Usagi, what’s tea?…”
“It’s a special drink that keeps Hikaru from yelling at people. :)"
Everything is about ready, however, I seem to have overlooked one detail.
There are five of us, but my lovely tea set only serves four. Oh dear!
(Don’t forget Shiro, that brings you to six.)
(Yes, but deer do not drink tea.)
“We could use this, it’s a nice big cup!”
Where did that come from, I thought we got rid of the dreadful thing (see It Starts with a Cup). Well, I guess it will have to do.
Well, we have a nice apple for Shiro…
…And tea and cake for all of us dolls.
“And juice!”
Yes, Sakura. There is juice and milk too.
Things are fine at the moment, but acquiring more tea cups is a must for future tea parties. For now I will sip my tea and think over dish patterns for the new set. Be at peace.

A Celebration of Dolls
Today is a most glorious day. Anna was informed that today, June 10th is known as World Doll Day. A day to fully appreciate dolls in all styles and forms.
Unfortunately, Anna is far too busy today with other obligations to spend the holiday with her beloved ball jointed dolls. I suppose we will have to celebrate without her. It is a day for us dolls after all.
Why not celebrate this grand occasion with us? Give your favorite doll or dolls a little needed attention, show them some love and affection. They will greatly appreciate it and so will I.
Be at peace and have a Happy World Doll Day!

Of Bjd Fashion: Pink Lace Ensemble for a Birthday
This post may contain affiliate links, please check out my disclosures page for more info. Thanks!
My much anticipated birthday was last week. However, just as last year, the celebration was delayed a bit, but for a wonderful reason.
So Anna could have extra time to work on this…
…My new pink lace ensemble.
A wonderful and well coordinated new outfit consisting of a gorgeous pink lace dress with ribbon rose accents, a pink underskirt, a pink lace purse, and a cameo necklace.. I was so thrilled when I first saw it.
The dress fits me like a dream. Anna says the design was inspired by the dress she recently made for herself and it was sewn using the same techinque from our fitted bodice tutorial video.
The tiny ribbon roses at the straps and on the sash were individually hand stitched by her. Oh, I do wish she would use them for my clothing more often.
The same exquisite roses were also used for the sweet matching headband (see Of Bjd Fashion: Headbands for Dolls with a Tutorial to make your own).
The purse is relatively simple in design, similar to some from our doll bags and purses tutorial. It is made from matching pink lace with a long ribbon cord strap and a pearl bead clasp (it actually closes with Velcro!).
It’s simplicity makes it all the more versatile, it will work with many items in my ever growing wardrobe.
I’m afraid the cameo necklace doesn’t match this new outfit, but it is a thing of beauty in itself. Anna says she received it from her mother. It was intended for human use, but with the chain shortened it became perfectly doll-sized.
The underskirt is among the most versatile parts of the ensemble. With it, the dress is full and elegant. However, the dress can be worn without it for a lighter more casual look.
And I can easily pair the skirt with a nice blouse for a completely different style. Such a versatile and beautiful clothing set.
I do wonder what the other dolls think of it.
“…This dress is so pretty…”
“Wow, it’s so big! What makes it so poufy? Is there something under there? Can I fit underneath?!”
Yes my dear readers, this is what I put up with, curious children. However, it is what comes with looking fabulous.
Be at peace.

Doll Owner’s Corner: Behind the Scenes Round 6
Beginning of the month, time for another Doll Owner’s Corner. When I, the doll owner, talk about anything I want.
This month’s topic:
Doll Bloopers!
Another batch of behind the scenes shots. The theme for this set is “How Does She Do It?” Photos to demonstrate some of the methods I’ve found to take cute photos, so far anyway.
Lately I’ve been using clear hair elastics to style the dolls hair, but I’ve found them useful for other things.
For instance, here when Hikaru wanted to add some touches to something I drew (see Wordless Wednesday: “It Needs More Lace”). The elastics helps her grip the pencil, but are discreet enough to hide in photos.
I don’t use doll stands to help the dolls stand since they can do so on their own with a little work (I am eyeing these ones though).
However they can only stay for so long before losing their balance, hence the “falling down” theme from the previous batch of doll bloopers. A theme that continues here…
This was when my yosd girls were playing with the head (see Wordless Wednesday: Playing Catch). Hikaru freaked out and they all came crashing down.
This one is when I made Yuna’s new outfit (see Of Bjd Fashion: Yuna’s First Outfit with Tutorial). Sakura started to fall over (again) and I attempted to catch her mid-photo.
So close, at least she’s okay. Yuna seemed a little worried.
The main reason why Yuna didn’t fall too is because she is leaning against my backdrop. It’s a tri-fold foam board, and if I place something heavy behind it, it’s strong enough to help support the dolls a little.
I wasn’t fully able to lend a hand for Sakura, but I was able to help Hikaru in the next few photos.
Here’s when Hikaru was doing her hair (see Wordless Wednesday: Fixing Her Hair), you didn’t think she was holding that big mirror by herself, right?
And when she took that selfie of herself (see Wordless Wednesday: Doll Selfies), how do you think she held up that phone?
That’s right, another hand from me.
And when Usagi tried to lift up Sakura (see Wordless Wednesday: Up, Up!), she also had a little help.
These are just a few of the little tricks I’ve found. Feel free to share any you’ve discovered in the comments below. I will be sure to share any more I find in the future. Look forward to it.
