Finding Doll Props: Driven, The Little Truck Blind Box

Anna has found another new blind box to amuse us ball jointed dolls.

It is from a series called Driven (found here at Target), they consist of tiny toy cars and other vehicles.  I’m sure the children will find them delightful.

Under the wrapper is what appears to be a plastic crate with a door.  Anna claims it is suppose to be a “garage”.

So, let us see what in concealed in the garage.

We see the familiar booklet in all blind box/bag toys, a small blue truck, a three interlocking pieces.

The the brochure tells us that our truck is from their Series I, which consists of 21 vehicles to collect.

Ah, I see now.  The interlocking pieces are intended to be roadways that connect the garages as well.

Anyway, this is our nice little blue truck.  It appears to be quite sturdy and of decent quality for it’s small 1 1/2 inch (4 cm.) size.

The back compartment moves and the back door opens allowing for more realistic play.

So which of our little dolls wishes to play with this adorable little truck.

“Wow! A truck! It’s so cool!  Right?”

“Can I see it too Sakura?”

“Wow, it is nice.”

“Yes, but remember it’s my truck.”

Now Sakura, didn’t you just get some new toys for your birthday?

“Just the one…”

And don’t you already have more toys then anyone else?

“Maybe…”

And Makoto only has one, and you know it’s nice to share.

…

“…Okay, he can have it.”

“Yay, look Yuna, I have a new truck.”

“…Um, it looks nice.  I like the color…”

“Thanks.”

Well, now that’s settled.  I’m sure all of our little dolls will enjoy these trucks in time.  That is, if Anna purchases more of them.  Only time will tell.

Finding Doll Props: Blind Bags for a Birthday, Puppy in My Pocket and Thomas Trains

We have two more belated birthdays to celebrate, as seems to be the custom in this doll household.  Sigh.

Anyway, Sakura and Yuna have been with us for over two years. 

Anna has bestowed upon them gifts of blind bag toys.  These novelties have become a staple in our home, at least when it comes to gift giving (Check out our other blind bag posts).

For Yuna, there is an unfamiliar selection called Puppy in My Pocket.  Anna says one of her siblings enjoyed this particular line of toys as a child, so it has a certain nostalgia.

Inside we have a small dog figure and the familiar checklist.  The figure is flocked to resemble the soft fur of a real puppy, a pleasant detail I must say. 

There seem to be a wide variety of breeds in this series.  Yuna received Gordy, the Gorden Setter.

The tiny puppy fits well in Yuna’s hands and I feel it will never leave them.  She loves it so much.  I suspect there may be more of these delights in the future.

For Sakura, there is the familiar Thomas & Friends mini trains.  Sakura has received one before and has been pleading for more ever since.

Inside is a the usual checklist and a green train engine.

According to the checklist, Sakura has received the train known as “Classic Duck”.  Such a peculiar name.

Despite the odd name, Sakura still loves her new train.  It will go nicely with her other one.

The trains are designed to link together for added enjoyment to the collector.

Overall, our dear little dolls are enjoying their little fine birthday toys.

And may there be many more birthdays for them to enjoy.

Finding Doll Props: World’s Smallest and Lalaloopsy Blind Box Unboxing

Anna made a quick trip to Target and returned with not one, but two brand new blind boxes for us to enjoy.

They seem quite different from the usual blind bags we’ve come to love (see Finding Doll Props: Surprising Blind Bags and Finding Doll Props: Blind Bags for Christmas). 

However, different does not mean dreadful, so let us quickly unbox them.

The first one is from a line call “World’s Smallest”.  These consist of small scale replicas of classic human toys and novelty items.

Anna says she first heard of them from a post on the bjd forum, Den of Angels.

Inside the box is the wrapped toy and a surprisingly extensive catalog of their other novelties.

Several of the offerings look promising.

Inside our box is a classic Duncan yo-yo.  It doesn’t exactly suit my tastes, but I suppose the children may enjoy learning to use it. 

But alas, this fine yo-yo is a little too large for 1/4 scale dolls.  Perhaps the yo-yo would better suit a 1/3 scale bjd instead.  It is definitely to large for our 1/6 scale yosds.

Anyway, Yuna and Sakura seem to be more interested in the other products made by this company. 

Wait, is that a small scale Barbie doll they are admiring?  Please no.

Next is the Lalaloopsy blind box.  According to Anna, Lalaloopsy is a line of play dolls designed to resemble sewn ragdolls.  How quaint.

The unwrapped box is quite pretty, it looks like a large purse or possibly a trunk.

Tucked inside, we have the wrapped doll and accessories and a catalog of all the different Lalaloopsy figures to collect.

Here we have the darling little doll and her parts. 

How adorable, she wears a wig as well.  It’s not quite as fine as my own, but apples to oranges.

Here is the little doll all dressed and ready for a day at the beach.  It would appear that most of the dolls are based on such amusing themes.

This Lalaloopsy doll is the perfect size to be a plaything for any young ball jointed doll.

“Ooooo, what is that? It’s so cute!  Can I have it?!  Can I play with it now?! Well?”

Calm down Sakura dear.

“….Um…May I play with it too?…”

“Oh, it’s so cute!  I want one too. :)”

No, not you too Usagi. 

Well, I shall have to settle this properly.

Now Sakura, didn’t you just receive those “cool” building sets (see Finding Doll Props: Kinder Joy Opening)?

And when was the last time you tidied up your other toys?

“Oh man..”

And really Usagi, don’t you think this toy should go to the actual children?

Don’t worry Usagi, there’s something special coming up for you.

“Really, yay! :)”

So that means the little Lalaloopsy goes to Yuna.

She will enjoy her new doll and take good care of it. 

However, there is still one more thing to settle.

Who gets to keep the pretty box.

Finding Doll Props: Kinder Joy

Sometimes Anna’s search for appropriate doll props takes her in odd directions.

Such as with theses egg shaped packages.

These are called Kinder Joy.  Anna picked them up from her store, but they are available at a wide variety of grocery stores.  It seems many humans pick them up for their children for Easter and Christmas as a delightful treat.

Let us take a pick inside one.

On one side of the pack is this delicious looking dessert.  It consists of chocolatey wafer balls floating in rich cream.  Anna says the cream is bit too rich for her taste, however her nephew adores it.

The other side of the package contains a small unassembled toy, with instructions.  Oh, dear.

Well, let us get started with this, right Sakura?

Hmm, is this piece suppose to go here?  And then here?  Hmm.

“Look Miss Ghost Lady, it’s done!  Isn’t it so cool?  Can I play with it?!”

Well it appears to be some sort of space ship with a launching device.

And as Sakura has demonstrated, it is simple for a child to assemble.

“Look Yuki, isn’t is so awesome?  Do you want to hold it too?  Want to play now?  What’s cream?”

Anyway, inside the second Kinder Joy egg is another unassembled toy.

I’m not even going to bother with the instructions, here you go Sakura dear.

“Yay!”

Once assembled, it appears to be a toy robot figure.

I’m not entirely convinced these Kinder Joy toys are suitable for ball jointed dolls, but Sakura seems to enjoy them.  And she has shown a remarkable aptitude for building sets.

“Yuki, you can hold this one too.  Do you think it will fit on my train?  Does it want to ride my train?  Do you want to play with my train?”

Now all that is left to do is tidy up, all this plastic packaging lying about, including these egg halves.

However, I can’t help but wonder if Anna could reuse them to make something doll size, such has some lovely hats for myself.
