The majority of the text on this blog is written by Hikaru, a ball jointed doll. Try not to question it. The text written in pink font is commentary from Hikaru's human friend, Anna. Basically Hikaru does most of the writing and Anna keeps her from getting too out of hand.

Finding Doll Props: Erasers and Office Supplies

This post may contain affiliate links, please check out my disclosures page for more info.  Thanks!

The search for appropriate items for dolls continues with a familiar, but slightly odd source.  School and office supplies.

Puzzle erasers shaped like cake and ice cream. Would be useful for dolls.

Anna purchased these food erasers from a nearby discount store.  All various sweet treats and desserts.

Puzzle erasers shaped like cake and ice cream. Would be useful for dolls.

The first set contains two ice cream cones and some tarts.

They are the perfect size for yosd size dolls, such as our little Yuna and Sakura.

“What flavor did you get Yuna?  Can I try? Want some of mine?  Is it better than cake?  Shall we have cake next?  Which is your favorite?

….

“Mine too!”

Erasers shaped like cake. Could work for dolls.

The second package of erasers contains four slices of cakes.  All beautifully decorated with strawberries and cream.

They are just the right size for msd sized dolls like Usagi and myself.  They fit perfectly in Usagi’s hands.  And they look too delicious to resist, I shall have to try one later.

Juice and milk carton scented erasers.

Anna also found another pack of erasers at her store.  She purchased them on clearance last fall and failed to even mention them until now, but let’s not dwell on that.

Anyway, these erasers are all in the shape of beverage cartons.  Various fruit juices and milk, perfectly nutritious drinks to accompany the fruit and sandwiches we received last fall (see Finding Doll Props: At a Party Store?).

But now that we have these wholesome milk and juices we will need suitable cups to serve them.

No, goblets don't work as milk glasses.

Usagi?  No…wine goblets are not appropriate.

"That cup is way too big for you!"

Really Sakura?  You can not possibly be serious.

A little fun with dolls and erasers.

A tea cup?  I suppose that will do in the meantime.  Good girl Yuna.

Dolls like milk too.

Yes, these erasers will be most useful for us dolls.

Some "very useful boxes". Good for sorting crafts and doll stuff.

There are still more to explore, such as these small containers.  Anna purchased them from a office supply store, but she has seen similar boxes elsewhere.  The packaging referred to them as “The Really Useful Box”.

Two ball jointed dolls putting away their toys.

They are useful indeed.  They prove useful for the children to store their toys.  The lids are secure and the size is ideal for them to carry and store.

I would love a few for my own things.  However, I will require something larger.

A cute storage container. Perfect for crafts and doll stuff.

Such as this stylish looking container.  Anna purchased several of them on clearance along with the beverage erasers.

A cute storage container. Perfect for crafts and doll stuff.

Yes, this container is more than suitable.  It will easily store my current wardrobe as well as all the articles of clothing Anna will sew for me this year.

"You need to sort you stuff now!"

“Hikaru, Anna says you now need to sort through all your clothes and stuff before she will make anything else for you.  Need some help? :)

….All of it?….

I suppose that is a reasonable request.  And I will be left with even more room for new clothing.  Let us get started then.

Wish me luck my dear readers.

Of Bjd Hair: Some Grooming Tools and Doll Wig Makeovers

To look her best, every ball jointed doll needs a well made and beautifully styled wig.  But one needs the right tools to style doll hair to perfection.

Using a mustach grooming kit to cut and style doll hair.

Anna found this grooming set at her store.  It is intended for men’s facial hair, however the size of the comb and scissors make them perfect for use on doll wigs.

Tiny hair clips and clear rubber bands, useful for doll hair.

Anna also found a couple of other items useful for creating new doll hairstyles.  A pack of “snap” hair clips perfectly sized for dolls and a pack of clear rubber bands.

The hair clips, oddly enough, came from a grocery store.  The rubber bands came from a dollar store and I understand are widely available in discount and drug stores.

Now that we are well equipped, time to start the doll wig makeovers.

Let’s start with the toughest challenge, Yuna’s wig.

Ball jointed doll wig makeovers!

As seen in this post, Yuna’s wig is quite patchy and unfortunately all efforts to hide this also hide her pretty face.

Ball jointed doll wig, restyled with a braid wrapped around like a head band.

Now here it is after some work.  A quick trim of her bangs shows off her lovely eyes and the shape of her face.

Anna braided a section of hair and wrapped it around her head to cover most of the bare areas along the hairline.

The braid is permanently sewn in place on the wig.  It is a most elegant fix for such an unsightly problem.

Now for Sakura.  Her wig, though a little unruly, was still very flattering on her.  The only issue I really saw was the thick long bangs that seemed to overwhelm her sweet face.

With a few snips of the scissors, the hair is shorter and softer around her face.

After getting one’s hair trimmed, it is also pleasant to have a new style too.

Doll hair style: Braids and a couple of clips.

Here Anna carefully braided Sakura’s hair.  A darling look for a child, and it keeps her hair neat and untangled.  The purple hair clips on the side add just the right touch.

Now it is Usagi’s turn.  Her hair was trimmed slightly when she first received this wig (see Of Bjd Hair: Another Wig Review and a Announcement).

However, it was a rushed job with improper tools, so Usagi’s bangs remained slightly too long and a tad uneven.

Now armed with more appropriate tools, Anna was able to finish the job.  Usagi’s bangs are neatly trimmed and out of her face.

Now to style it.

Doll hair style: tiny pony tails on the top for volume and a cute headband.

Undoing her “ponytails” allows Usagi to show off her beautiful curls.  Tying up small amounts of hair toward the top of the wig adds some more volume.

Add a pretty pink bow for the finishing touch to this sweet and feminine look.

Overall, the results are wonderful.  Everyone has a beautiful new hairstyle.

Almost everyone.  What about you Hikaru?

………..

But my wig is perfect, no need for trimming.  And as for styling, Anna’s knowledge of hair styles for dolls is still lacking.

It’s true she can braid hair nicely, and make simple and sweet styles for the children.  But until she finds some truly elegant hair styles for me, I shall have to settle for wearing my hair down.

Be at peace my dear readers.

Finding Doll Props: Blind Bags for Christmas

This post may contain affiliate links, please check out my disclosures page for more info.  Thanks!

This post is a bit late, it’s from Christmas when all the dolls received their presents.  All blind bags, because they are perfect for dolls as mentioned in this post.

Ah, Christmas day has come at last.  A time for happiness and cheer.  A time of goodwill to all.  And ultimately…

Time to open Christmas presents!

Time to open my presents!  I wonder what they could be?

"Why is the head staring at me?"

And I wonder why the head is staring at me?

Because he can’t really open presents or anything without a body.  So he gets to enjoy the holidays by eating donuts and watching everyone open their gifts.  He’s having fun, so let him be.

I suppose it is all right, but how can he watch without eyes?

But, let’s not dwell on that when there are more important things to do, like open presents.

Blind bags for dolls.

Inside my box are two blind bags.  One from My Little Pony, a favorite around here (see Finding Doll Props: Surprising Blind Bags), and the other is for Care Bears.

A ball jointed doll opening Chrismas presents, they're blind bags!

Let’s start with the pony bag shall we?

My Little Pony blind bag figure, Breezie Flora

I received this lovely white Pegasus named Breezie Flora.  The details are well done on this one and the color choice is quite tasteful.

This figure will display nicely with my other collectibles.

Care Bears blind bag figure, Champ Bear

Now this is what I found in the Care Bears bag.  An odd blue bear named Champ Bear.  He bears the image of a trophy on his stomach.  I will say that the painting is well done.

I must admit that I am not familiar with this line.  And I find them peculiar to look at to say the least.

However, they are based on characters from Anna’s childhood and the quality is good.  So I suppose I shall keep it for the sake of novelty.

Now what did Usagi receive for Christmas?

The same two blind bags as myself, so let’s open them.

Care Bears blind bag figure, Sweet Dreams bear.

In her Care Bears pack, she found this purple bear named Sweet Dreams Bear.  She has a moon and heart design on her stomach and the painting is of the same fine quality as my own bear.

And although they aren’t very appealing to myself, Usagi seems to be quite taken with her new bear.

“It is so cute!! :)”

My Little Pony blind bag figure, Cinnamon Breeze.

And in her My Little Pony bag was this charming pink unicorn named Cinnamon Breeze.  Naturally Usagi adores it as well.

“We have more ponies to play with now.  Let’s play together later, okay? :)“

….

Time for the children to open their gifts.

Dolls and blind bag toys. Trolls!

First for Yuna is a Trolls blind bag.

For some reason she has grown quite fond of this line.  Luckily for her, they came out with series 2.  Hopefully the quality has improved from series 1.

And here is Yuna’s new troll figure.  It is strange to look at, but the color choice is at least more appealing than her last troll figure.  The hair seems softer as well, which is the main appeal for Yuna.

Dolls and blind bag toys. Trolls!

Yuna does so love it.  That is what matters most.

Dolls and blind bag toys. Thomas!

Sakura’s first present is a Thomas the Tank Engine mini blind bag

She has somehow recently became interested in locomotive trains, so this pack is very fitting.

Thomas the Tank Engine blind bag figure, Orca Gator

And this is what she found inside the bag.

The name of this train engine is Orca Gator.  I do find it odd to decorate a train with marine mammals.  Still, Sakura seems pleased with it.

“Look Mr. Head, isn’t is so cool?  Want to play with it? Want to play with me?  Can I wear your hat?”

Dolls and blind bag toys. My Mini Mixe Qs

In addition to the first bags, both Sakura and Yuna received My Mini Mixie Qs blind boxes

They are a favorite of Sakura’s and she was sure Yuna would enjoy these tiny doll figures as well.

My Mini Mixie Qs figures, cute!

Sakura received this pair consisting of Donut Lover from the Sweet collection and Checkerboard from the Sassy collection.

For Yuna, there is Gamer Girl from the Smart collection and Roller Derby from the Zany collection.

The names of the Mixie Qs are creative to say the least.  I just hope it doesn’t give Anna any ideas.

The children still delight in them.  They can quietly play with them together.

Overall, the day has been pleasantly spent.  There is just one small problem.

The Christmas morning mess.

Who is going to clean up this mess?

Be at peace my dear readers.
