Of Bjd Hair: Fatiao Doll Shop Wig Review Plus a Wig Try On

As with any fine bjd, one of the things needed for our newest doll (see Bjd Unboxing: Surprise Again, Clover Doll Echo) is hair.

Thankfully, after much searching online, Anna has finally located and purchased an appropriate wig.

To help with her research on hair styles, Anna decided to let the new doll try on almost all the wigs in the house. 

First we tried what I believe to be the finest wig in the house, my own.  It is a msd sized Dollzone wig purchased from Angelesque (see It's Here at Last! Or a Wig Review ).  The unusual white color looks very well with our doll’s complexion and the style suits her. 

Next is Yuki’s hair, a short blond 1/4 sized wig from Alice’s Collections (see Of Bjd Hair: Reviewing Three Wigs?).  The cut and color of this wig are also quite flattering on this doll. (It’s because the Clover Doll Echo is an incredibly versatile sculpt.  Everything looks good on her!)

Here is Usagi’s wig, it is this 7-8 size For My Doll wig in cream pink, purchased from Angelesque (see Of Bjd Hair: Another Wig Review and an Announcement ). 

This one was Anna’s personal favorite for our new doll.  So much so that she would have purchased another one for our new doll.  There was just one problem, it is too large.  This doll has a fairly small head, and sadly For My Doll wigs seem to run a little large in our experience.  Such a pity.

And here is where things get amusing.  This is dear little Sakura’s wig, a long blond wig from Alice’s Collections.  Despite being a wig intended for a 1/6 scale doll instead of 1/4, it fits this doll perfectly thanks to her small sized head.

So with the help of this research, Anna choose a wig from a shop on etsy called Fatiao Doll Shop.  A shop that specializes in doll wigs, shoes and accessories.  This particular shop was unknown to us, but they had excellent reviews so Anna thought it best to chance them. 

So she made the purchase, and less than a week later, our packaged arrived!  Such speedy service.

The wig arrived packed in a nice box and carefully wrapped in bubble wrap.

The well designed box is a welcome change from the usual plastic bag that most bjd wigs arrive in, it adds a pleasant touch.

And the business card is adorable, Anna thought so as well.

It doubles as a thank you card, a truly delightful touch.

Out of the box, the wig is neatly wrapped in netting and we can see the beautiful and familiar coloring.

As you can see, Anna tracked down a wig in almost the same shade as Usagi’s fine wig.  It is one of their fine Msd sized wigs (currently our of stock).

The difference is that this wig fits our new doll well.  Anna insisted on finding a wig with bangs because she loved the way they look on her.

I personally adore the look of the curls, and the fibers on this wig are wonderfully soft.

Here is the wig in different lighting and after a trim.  After properly fitting our doll with a wig cap, Anna thought the bangs were too long.

We are all quite pleased with this new wig.  The color and quality are wonderful and the service was superb.  I will encourage Anna to continue doing business with Fatiao, perhaps maybe she could find something for me there, my birthday is coming soon.

Anyway, more about the wig. As you can see, it is noticeably lighter in color compared to Usagi’s wig.  However, both colors are beautiful. 

And now there are three ball jointed dolls with pink hair.  We simply cannot forget about Yuna (see Doll Love Unboxing Part 2: Reviewing a Wig and Eyes).

This brings up the question, how many more pink wigs will Anna acquire?

Of Bjd Hair: Another Wig Review and a Announcement

At long last, Usagi’s wig has finally arrived.  Anna ordered it without mentioning to either one of us until it was shipped.

But after waiting patiently for nearly a week, it finally arrived yesterday.  Poor Usagi was so anxious. (So was Hikaru.)

I must apologize for the awful lighting in the photos.  Usagi was much too excited to wait until daylight to open the package.

Anyway here is the wig, carefully wrap in plastic and netting to protect it.

The shop added their business card to the packaging.  The wig was purchased from Angelesque, which is where my wig came from (see It's Here at Last! or a Wig Review).  They service was impeccable as always.

And here is the wig. 

It was made by For My Doll and it’s  M K-002 in Pink Cream.  It’s a pleasant shade of pink, but somehow seems just a tad darker than the product photo.

And the hair somehow seems slightly rough, at least compared to my own silky flowing tresses.  

Anyway, let us try it on…I mean on Usagi.

It looks well enough on her in this horrid lighting.

Though it seems she isn’t accustomed to having any sort of headwear.

And the style seems a bit off on her.  Perhaps the bangs should be trimmed, at least it would help her vision.

Now here is what it looks like during the day.  The color is much more flattering now.  I think it is a fine wig, though there are a few small flaws.  I’ll let Anna continue.

Well, Hikaru is right about the color and the texture.  The color is slightly darker in person, but that probably has to do with variations with computer screens and such.

The wig also doesn’t feel as soft as Hikaru’s wig.  I’m not sure if it’s just a difference in companies and their materials or possibly just the hair style.  This wig is curly while Hikaru’s hair is smooth and straight. 

Beyond that, it is a nice wig.  There aren’t any bald spots or noticeable thin areas. 

The only other issue I have is how it fits Usagi, both in size and style. 

The wig is designed to fit 7-8 inch heads.  Usagi’s head is 18 cm. or about 7.8 in. and I’m afraid it’s a little loose.  Which is why she is wearing a balloon wig cap under it to keep it on (see The Incredible Balloon Wig Cap).

As for style, I can’t help to wonder if the style suits her now that I can see it actually on her.  It’s one of the hard parts of shopping for wigs and clothes for dolls.  You can’t always try it on before buying.

But maybe with some additional styling, things will change.

Here’s how it looks with a trim.  Seems to suit her more already, and now she can see.

I will probably have to go back and trim a little more to make it more natural looking, but this will do for now.

And if we tie the curls to keep them out of her way, it seems to suit her a little more.

Maybe this wig will work better than we thought, and Usagi really likes it anyway.

I couldn’t agree more.  It looks charming on her.

“Hikaru, I want to see what it will look like you!”

Well I was a little curious what it would look like.  (She was dying to try it on.)

As expected, it looks glorious on me.  Although I do prefer my own wigs, curls do suit me so well.  Maybe if Anna found a suitable set of curlers….

My wig actually looks fairly adorable on Usagi, just to try on of course.  I’m certain if left on longer, Usagi would tangle it up horrendously.

Anyway, Usagi has finally received her wig, but that wasn’t the only package we are waiting on.  It is time for the grand announcement,  we are expecting a new doll!

And this time Anna didn’t spring it on me out of the blue.  We have discussed it often amongst ourselves.  She purchased the little one from the Junky Spot, the same store she purchased me.  Not just that, the doll is made by the same company as myself, Mystic Kids.  They are currently having a sale which presented the perfect opportunity to add to our little family.

Now to reveal which doll will be arriving shortly at our door step.  May I present:

It’s Here At Last! Or a Wig Review

After approximately a week of patiently waiting, my new wig finally arrived.  Anna did not retrieve it though until the evening after returning home from work.  The nerve of her, after all that time I spent waiting she didn’t even wake me up to inform me it was here until after she had opened the package.  But I am a kind hearted bjd, so I will forgive her over-eagerness.

The wig came well protected in a hair net and a locking plastic bag.  The package included a business card for the company as well.  We will definitely be using their services again in the future.

The wig itself is wondrous to behold.  The fibers are so soft and silky, like delicate feathers.

Despite the lack of good lighting and my not being fully awake yet, Anna insisted on getting a picture of the wig on me.  The dear girl was so excited that I didn’t have the heart to refuse.  Luckily I am extremely photogenic, the photo came out surprisingly well despite the poor conditions.

Now here is a photo taken at a decent hour with nearly perfect lighting.  Anna actually took the time to properly style the wig as well, although she did have me worried over her methods of styling.  She used a toothbrush of all things, imagine that.  If that wasn’t bad enough she used a blow dryer!  I swear she nearly burnt my precious hair. 

Anyway, as expected I look like an angel in my new wig, it suits me so well.  That’s exactly why I allowed Anna to choose this wig for me.

She allowed me?  Actually as many of you will recall, I just placed the order without telling her.  She just had to accept the fact that this was the wig for her and that’s that.  And I did try to wake her up before opening the package, but she was out like a log.  It actually helped later, she was much too drowsy to object to late night photos.  And by the time she did fully wake up, she was too giddy ad excited about her wig to even care.

Anyway, I bought Hikaru’s wig from Angelesque, a dealer of ball jointed dolls and accessories based in the UK.  The wig is Dollzone’s GW45-004A made for 18.5cm doll heads.  Hikaru’s head is 17.5cm and the wig fits like a glove, thankfully.

I was also worried that is wouldn't suit her or worse. That the wig would look nothing like the photo and be ugly and thin and patchy.  Thankfully that wasn’t the case either.

The wig looks so pretty from all angles, and Hikaru is right about how soft it is, I can’t stop brushing it.  And yes, I do use a human size soft bristled toothbrush as a hairbrush.  I’ve heard from multiple sources that these are perfect for bjd wigs.  And one of the reasons I specifically went with Dollzone was because many of their wigs are heat resistant, so a little blow drying won’t hurt at all.  Hikaru was just being a baby about that.

Overall, we are both super happy with this wig.  Although it is still strange for me to see Hikaru with hair.  I guess I was kind of use to having a bald doll.  She almost looks like a completely different doll.  With any luck she may start acting like a different doll too.  One can only hope.

So toothbrushes are actually good for doll hair?  There are truly strange things in this world.  And while I understand that a new hairstyle can make someone feel like a whole new person, I don’t see how it could make me act like a different doll or why anyone would hope for such a thing.  I shall try not to let the thought trouble me.  But for now I am at peace.
